About The Position

As the Centralized Loan Processor, you are responsible for ensuring the efficient and accurate processing and funding of loan applications for members of the credit union. Your role is vital to the team to assist members, staff, and third parties with the general aspects of direct consumer lending for the credit union. You will play a key role in maintaining member satisfaction by delivering prompt and professional service throughout the loan process while providing complex information and resolutions pertinent to the support of select Credit Union products and services.

Requirements

  • At least one year of similar or related experience.
  • High school education or GED.
  • Knowledge of BSA/OFAC compliance and be able to assist members with questions concerning BSA.
  • Complete yearly training.
  • Technical skills using one or more software applications and tools related to data analysis and presentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assists members and new members with processing requests for credit while ensuring that each application is complete, to include assessment of credit needs and the compiling of supporting documentation for the request.
  • Review and update newly submitted loan applications for accuracy prior to submitting for underwriting.
  • Communicate directly with applicants and provide details and requirements necessary to proceed with their loan application.
  • Collect and review supporting documents required, as needed, to process the loan application.
  • Calculate gross monthly income utilizing submitted documentation.
  • Coordinate with third-party sellers (dealers/private parties).
  • Document all actions taken within the loan origination computer system.
  • Prepare and review loan origination documents for accuracy prior to funding loan.
  • Accurately fund and originate the new loan including disbursement of loan proceeds to designated payees.
  • Verification that all policy and procedural requirements were met during the funding process.
  • Effectively manage a personal queue of loan applications to maximize productivity.
  • Identify possible cross sell opportunities for back-end products and additional loans.
  • Provide administrative support to the department as needed.
  • Ensure that all month end reporting has been completed.
  • Open membership savings account when needed to complete the loan process
  • Work closely with other departments, such as underwriting and member services, to facilitate the smooth processing and funding of loans.
  • Provide support and training to junior team members as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
  • Review and verify loan applications, supporting documentation, and credit reports to ensure completeness and accuracy.
  • Communicate with members to clarify and gather additional information as needed.
  • Collaborate with underwriters to resolve any issues or discrepancies.
  • Ensure all loan processing activities comply with internal policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Prepare loan docs for funding, ensuring all conditions have been met.
  • Disburse loan funds to members or third parties according to the terms of the loan agreement.
  • Monitor the funding process to ensure timely and accurate disbursement.
  • Maintain detailed records of all funded loans and update relevant systems.
  • Conduct final reviews of loan files to ensure accuracy and completeness before funding.
  • Identify and correct any errors or omissions in loan documentation.
  • Ensure all required signatures, disclosures, and documents are in place.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for members throughout the loan process.
  • Provide clear, concise, and timely communication regarding loan status, conditions, and next steps.
  • Address member inquiries and concerns with professionalism and empathy.
  • Adhere to all credit union policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements related to lending.
  • Assist in the preparation of reports for internal and external audits.
  • Stay informed about changes in lending regulations and best practices.
  • Work closely with other departments, such as underwriting and branches, to facilitate the smooth processing and funding of loans.
  • Provide support and training to junior team members as needed.
  • Participate in team meetings and contribute to process improvement initiatives.
