About The Position

As a Central Trucking Dispatcher, you’ll be at the center of Premier Equipment’s logistics operations — coordinating the movement of equipment and managing the daily flow of internal trucking activity. You’ll ensure our drivers, routes, and schedules align seamlessly to meet the needs of our stores and customers. This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast-paced environment, enjoys problem-solving, and takes pride in keeping operations efficient and organized. You’ll oversee and coordinate all internal trucking requests across multiple locations, dispatching drivers, managing outside carriers, and ensuring timely deliveries. You’ll communicate daily with drivers and department teams to keep operations running smoothly, while maintaining safety and compliance at every step.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in dispatching, logistics coordination, or fleet management.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities with attention to detail.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to coordinate effectively with drivers and internal teams.
  • Proficiency in using dispatch or fleet management software and Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience dispatching oversized loads or agricultural/construction equipment.
  • Knowledge of farm, construction, and lawn/garden equipment.
  • Familiarity with Southern, Central, and Eastern Ontario regions.
  • Experience coordinating internal and third-party trucking operations.
  • Post-secondary education in Logistics, Transportation, or Business Administration preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Review and schedule all internal trucking requests across locations.
  • Dispatch full-time and part-time drivers to meet delivery and transfer needs.
  • Communicate daily with drivers to provide guidance, updates, and support.
  • Coordinate with outside trucking companies when needed to fulfill transport requirements.
  • Ensure all trucking activity flows through Central Trucking for visibility and efficiency.
  • Prepare and manage trucking quotes and provide cost estimates when required.
  • Assist in the recruitment and onboarding of drivers.
  • Manage a pool of part-time drivers, ensuring schedules and coverage meet business needs.
  • Promote and monitor compliance with safety regulations and company guidelines.
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain an organized and efficient trucking schedule.
