About The Position

Under general supervision of the Director, the Central Supply Tech supplies hospital departments with needed patient care items, (chargeable and non-chargeable) by taking accurate inventories on a daily basis on each respective unit. Also responsible for collection of, and routing of, daily patient charges from each unit to Central Supply Supervisor for processing. Will also pull supplies necessary for surgical cases on a daily basis. As a service department, will be responsible for maintaining the highest standards of customer service at all times. Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Excellent computer skills and legible handwriting required.

Nice To Haves

  • prior inventory control experience in healthcare setting preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Inventories and re-stocks supply carts on each nursing unit, Monday through Friday. Maintains appropriate level of supplies for each unit based on existing supply par levels.
  • Pulls necessary supplies for surgical cases daily.
  • Tags all chargeable items and stores on shelves in warehouse.
  • Collects patient charge cards from all nursing units on a daily basis and delivers to C.S. Supervisor for processing. Delivers Lost Charge reports to each respective nursing unit.
  • Checks equipment daily. Pick up and deliver to Central Sterile the dirty equipment as it is discontinued on patients. Once equipment is cleaned, appropriately tags and stores equipment in Central Supply area for redistribution. Assists with locating medical equipment for use on the floors as needed.
  • Informs Supervisor as to supplies that are running low.
  • Assists in purchasing as needed.
  • Maintains clean and orderly department, including sweeping, emptying garbage containers, keeping shelf stock organized and stock rotated, cleans exchange carts twice monthly per procedure.
  • Maintains patient confidentiality and appropriate handling of PHI.
  • Abides by the HMH Legal Compliance Code of Conduct.
  • Maintains a safe work environment and reports safety concerns appropriately.
  • Performs all other related functions as directed.
