About The Position

The Williamsport Home is seeking an experienced Central Supply Clerk for a full-time or part-time position. This role involves ordering nursing and ancillary supplies and/or equipment to ensure adequate inventory for resident needs. The position is responsible for maintaining department budgets, processing charge slips, and managing inventory levels. The Central Supply Clerk will also develop and maintain records of central supply activities, advise on cost-effective purchasing, and generate purchase orders via a computer system. Additional duties include managing the resident weight program, advising the dietician of weight changes, and providing backup for the staffing scheduler. The role requires a professional demeanor, teamwork, and confidentiality.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Strong verbal and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to recognize and report changes.
  • Computer knowledge required – ability to use Excel, Word and Access.
  • Ability to understand and follow oral and written directions as given.
  • Frequent standing, walking, carrying objects (up to 50 lbs.).
  • Overhead, lateral and low reaching, lifting, pushing/pulling, bending and hand/arm/finger usage.
  • Frequent stepping downward and squatting.
  • Push/pull 95-300 pounds wheel weight.
  • Infrequent sitting.

Responsibilities

  • Orders nursing and ancillary supplies and/or equipment to maintain proper inventory levels.
  • Maintains department budgets within established parameters.
  • Processes charge slips according to facility policy and procedures.
  • Inventories stock areas to monitor usage and maintain adequate inventory.
  • Develops and maintains records/reports of central supply activities and reports to Fiscal Officer/DON/Administrator.
  • Solicits cost-effective purchasing plans and keeps department directors and Administrator advised.
  • Generates purchase orders through the computer-based system.
  • Manages resident weight program and advises dietician of significant weight changes.
  • Backs up staffing scheduler in her absence.
  • Assumes all other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains a professional, customer-oriented demeanor at all times.
  • Works within a team concept and is cooperative with co-workers and peers.
  • Maintains confidentiality of information.
