Requirements

  • Surgical Technologist or RN with at least five (5) years of progressive management experience in an acute care setting or healthcare system; Sterile Processing management experience preferred.
  • Advanced certification as a CRCST or CHL. If not certified, certification will be required within one (1) year of eligibility.
  • Must have knowledge of basic principles of accounting and economics as well as principles of microbiology, sterilization and aseptic techniques, surgical techniques, instrumentation and equipment, and inventory control resource in the area of sterilization technology.
  • Knowledge of hazardous materials handling, infection prevention and a strong understanding of the industry standards as stated by The Joint Commission, AMMI, AORN, CDC and OSHA ( 29 CFR 1910.103) required.
  • Must possess strong computer skills and be proficient with Microsoft Office applications.
  • Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and written with excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Must have ability to problem solve, deal with conflict and find resolutions in a fast paced and challenging environment.
  • Sexual Harassment training within 90 days of hire and annually thereafter.

Nice To Haves

  • Sterile Processing management experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for directing the overall service functions of the Central Sterile Processing Department.
  • Assesses and maintains standards of practice for procurement and assemblage of supplies, carts, and instruments, as well as checking, cleaning, storing, and distributing patient related equipment.
  • Responsible for the economic operation of Sterile Processing Department, the manager develops and ensures adherence to high quality standards of performance, communication and teamwork.
  • Provides education of staff, and fosters an environment where each associate contributes to overall success of the team.
  • Participates in the development of policies and procedures.
