About The Position

Up Health System- Marquette part of Lifepoint Health, a diversified healthcare delivery network with facilities coast to coast, is seeking a Central Sterile Technician. This role is vital in providing inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and patient care equipment according to established guidelines and regulatory requirements. The technician will operate departmental equipment safely, provide excellent customer service to all departments with a patient-centered focus, and meticulously process and document sterile supplies and equipment. This includes verifying sterility using various indicators and performing daily testing of antimicrobial and disinfection solutions.

Requirements

  • Minimum Education: High school diploma or equivalent
  • Years of relevant experience may be substituted for required education.
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.
  • Valid driver's license in State of Michigan

Responsibilities

  • Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
  • Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient need.
  • Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
  • Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
