About The Position

A central sterile technician (also called a sterile processing or central service technician) decontaminates, inspects, assembles, sterilizes, and distributes medical and surgical instruments in healthcare facilities without direct patient contact.

Requirements

• High school graduate or equivalent required.
• Certification by an accredited Sterile Processing Entity.

Nice To Haves

• At least one year of experience in a hospital or surgery center setting is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Clean and disinfect used surgical tools manually or with mechanical washer-disinfectors.
• Inspect instruments for damage or wear, then group and count them into specific tray sets.
• Operate steam autoclaves or low-temperature gas plasma sterilizers.
• Package sterilized sets, log tracking data, and prepare case carts for operating rooms.
