About The Position

Canyon Vista Medical Center is seeking a Certified Central Sterile Technician (CST) to join their team. This is a part-time position with varied 10-hour shifts. The CST plays a vital role in collecting, decontaminating, storing, and distributing reusable supplies and patient care equipment. This includes inspecting, assembling, and sterilizing instruments and equipment according to established guidelines and regulatory requirements (AAMI, AORN, TJC, OSHA). The role involves operating departmental equipment safely, providing excellent customer service, and meticulously documenting sterilization processes using various indicators. Monitoring and testing disinfection solutions are also key responsibilities. Requirements

  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent preferred
  • CRCST certification
  • BLS Certificate required within 30 days of hire
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision.
  • Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

Responsibilities

  • Collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.
  • Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
  • Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient’s needs.
  • Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
  • Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
