Canyon Vista Medical Center is a 106 bed acute care hospital that strives to offer exceptional care to the Sierra Vista community. Our Perioperative Services Department provides the majority of surgical care for Cochise County, supporting a wide range of specialties including orthopedics, general surgery, urology, gynecology, podiatry, spine, vascular, and endoscopy. We are proud to deliver high-quality, patient-centered care across the surgical continuum. Perioperative Services is a great place to work, with schedules that are generally Monday through Friday, consisting of four 10-hour shifts. The pace can be fast and at times demanding, but it is also highly fulfilling for those who enjoy hands-on care and being part of a dedicated surgical team.

Requirements

  • CRCST certification
  • BLS Certificate required within 30 days of hire
  • Requires critical thinking skills, decisive judgment and the ability to work with minimal supervision. Must be able to work in a stressful environment and take appropriate action.

  • Highschool Diploma or Equivalent preferred

Responsibilities

  • Collects, decontaminates, stores and distributes all reusable supplies and patient care equipment in the hospital.
  • Provides inspection, decontamination, assembly, and sterilization of instruments and other patient care equipment in accordance with processing guidelines, AAMI, AORN, TJC, and OSHA requirements.
  • Operates departmental equipment daily according to manufacturer instructions with emphasis on safety.
  • Provides customer service to all departments with a focus on the patient’s needs.
  • Processes and documents all sterile supplies and equipment daily using chemical, biological and mechanical indicators to verify sterility in accordance with manufacturer instructions and hospital policy.
  • Monitors and performs antimicrobial and disinfection solutions testing according to manufacturer instructions and documentation daily.
