About The Position

The Central Sterile Technician is responsible for decontaminating, preparing, and sterilizing Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment. The role also includes inventory management, restocking supplies, computer data entry, and batching patient charge cards. The technician must know the locations of departments throughout the facility and be able to access them, communicate effectively in writing and verbally, and demonstrate detailed knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent, or related experience, for new hires effective April 2014.
• At least two years of experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting is required at applicable facilities.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate is required at applicable facilities.
• Central Supply Certified certification is required at applicable facilities.
• At designated facilities, Central Supply Certified certification must be obtained within two years from the date of hire.

Nice To Haves

• Two years of experience as a Central Sterile Technician in an acute care hospital setting is preferred.
• Central Supply Certified certification is preferred.
• Current BLS (AHA) certificate is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Decontaminate, prepare, and sterilize Central Sterile trays, instruments, and equipment.
• Manage inventory and restock supplies.
• Perform computer data entry and batch patient charge cards.
• Know department locations throughout the facility and be able to access all departments.
• Demonstrate excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrate detailed knowledge of patient supplies and equipment.
