About The Position

The Central Sterile Processing Supervisor, Exempt is responsible for determining, coordinating, and supervising daily staffing assignments and levels. This role provides direction, orientation, training, coaching, and mentoring to staff. The supervisor performs or assists with performance evaluations and disciplinary actions, assesses and ensures the quality of services delivered, and facilitates staff development programs. They ensure staff compliance with departmental and organizational policies, procedures, and protocols, and may perform staff responsibilities as needed to fulfill required service levels. This position leads the handling and resolution of complex issues and complaints, and is in charge of staff scheduling and timecard approvals. The role serves both internal co-workers and external customers, clients, patients, contractors, and vendors. Access to and/or works with sensitive and/or confidential information is expected, along with a comprehensive understanding of healthcare regulatory and compliance (e.g., HIPAA). The supervisor is skilled in the application of policies and procedures and leads the work of others who perform essentially the same work, potentially setting priorities, scheduling, and reviewing work, but without direct responsibility for hiring, termination, performance reviews, or pay decisions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Previous Central Sterile Processing leadership experience preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.

Responsibilities

  • May set priorities, schedule and review work, but have no responsibility to hire, terminate, review performance and/or make pay decisions.
