FT Temporary Central Sort Sorter
About The Position
This role involves processing donated items such as clothes, housewares, books, toys, jewelry, and shoes for sale. Responsibilities include pre-sorting, sorting, grading, cleaning, hanging, and packaging items. The sorter will also separate items based on classification, grade saleable items, remove dirt from glassware, and dispose of incomplete or broken items. Additionally, the role requires tagging and pricing items, placing them in containers with appropriate labels, and working with clients assigned for vocational services. Adherence to company procedures and performance of other requested duties are also part of the role.
Requirements
- Knowledge of general arithmetic (adding/subtracting) is required.
- Ability to perform routine work, adapting to change as it relates to workflow.
- Ability to maintain self-control and work in cooperation with co-workers.
- Ability to coordinate hand-eye-foot movement to quickly manipulate and handle items.
- Ability to examine items and visually differentiating between them based on quality standards.
- Ability to meet and maintain established standards.
- Lifting and/or carrying up to 25 lbs consistently.
- Lifting/carrying heavier items of up to 50 lbs with assistance or material handling equipment.

Responsibilities
- Process donated clothes, housewares, books, toys, jewelry, shoes and miscellaneous items for sale.
- Pre-sort, sort, grade, clean, hang and package items.
- Separate (pre-sort) items according to predetermined classification or criteria.
- Separate (sort) and grade items into goods saleable at the regular stores.
- Remove surface dirt from glassware and small ware.
- Place incomplete and/or broken items into containers for the As-Is or trash.
- Put saleable clothes on to hangers.
- Tag and/or price items.
- Place items into containers and put appropriate storage label on container.
- Work with clients who are assigned for vocational services as requested.
- Follow and enforce all company procedures.
- Perform other duties as requested.
