The Central Scheduling Representative is responsible for scheduling multiple services and procedures in appropriate locations, collaborating with resource staff and utilizing available rooms. This role serves as a liaison for MD offices and nursing departments, receiving calls and assisting with scheduling requests. The representative updates schedules for multiple departments, prints and distributes schedules as approved by management, and handles the distribution and mailing of procedure instructions. They also confirm appointments, distribute prep directions, and provide information regarding ABN when appropriate. Additionally, the role involves producing and distributing necessary paperwork, answering routine inquiries, and handling telephone calls courteously and efficiently. Maintaining department records, filing systems, and performing photocopying/faxing are also key duties. The representative must obtain accurate patient information, including demographics and payer details, and communicate unresolved issues to management. Pre-registration of outpatient appointments, including insurance verification, and processing patient payments (co-pays, co-insurance, deductibles) are essential. The role also includes printing and reconciling patient reports, validating physician orders for medical necessity and signatures, and performing other assigned duties.
