About The Position

River Hospital is seeking a full-time Central Scheduler for our Patient Access Department. Responsibilities of this job include inpatient and outpatient scheduling and registration for all inpatient and ancillary departments. Responsible for switchboard operations, petty cash, mail distribution. Responsible for the organization and management of the Admissions office, its records, files, and necessary systems. Responsible for obtaining and verifying all authorizations for scheduled outpatient procedures and inpatient admissions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Three years prior experience in a Hospital/Physician Office required
  • Knowledge of insurance, Medicare and Medicaid practices
  • PC and keyboard skills required
  • Accurate clerical skills
  • Good organizational skills
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills necessary
  • Ability to work with diverse groups including; physicians, nurses, therapists, patients, and families
  • Employee's responsibility to know the requirements for certification, limited permit and licensure for their individual profession
  • Employee's responsibility to notify the employer of the status of any certification or licensure issue or potential issue
  • Compliance with all of the requirements outlined by the New York State Office of professions for the particular profession
