About The Position

This position provides an opportunity to transition from other private, public, government or military experience to a 3M career. As a Central Project Engineer, you will have the opportunity to tap into your curiosity and collaborate with some of the most innovative people around the world. Here, you will make an impact by supporting the Project Manager in identifying the most cost-effective technical solutions and driving estimate, schedule, and change management processes. You will lead and coordinate all technical project work, including front-end engineering and design activities, to ensure robust, safe solutions. This role involves defining Basis of Design (BOD) and Engineering package deliverables, specifying major equipment, and overseeing the development of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), and start-up/commissioning plans. Maintaining effective communication and alignment with the project team and project owners throughout project execution is crucial. You will also drive compliance by understanding applicable codes and guidelines to ensure designs meet EHS standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in an engineering discipline from an accredited institution (completed and verified prior to start)
  • Seven (7) years of capital project management experience and involvement in developing technical design and construction packages in a private, public, government or military environment
  • Current, valid Driver’s License
  • Must be legally authorized to work in country of employment without sponsorship for employment visa status (e.g., H1B status)

Nice To Haves

  • Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Chemical engineering degree
  • Track record of successful project execution in a stage gate capital deployment model
  • Prior experience with webline, converting, automation, and/or discrete part handling equipment

Responsibilities

  • Supporting the Project Manager in identifying the most cost-effective technical solutions and driving estimate, schedule, and change management processes
  • Leading and coordinating all technical project work, including front-end engineering and design activities, to ensure robust, safe solutions
  • Defining Basis of Design (BOD) and Engineering package deliverables
  • Specifying major equipment and overseeing the development of Factory Acceptance Test (FAT), Site Acceptance Test (SAT), and start-up/commissioning plans
  • Maintaining effective communication and alignment with the project team and project owners throughout project execution

  • Complying with corporate policies, procedures and security standards while performing assigned duties
  • Contributing to a strong Environmental Health and Safety (EHS) culture by following safety policies, identifying hazards, and engaging in continuous improvement
