USAC is a non-profit, university-affiliated study abroad organization headquartered on the campus of the University of Nevada, Reno. Since 1982, USAC has provided opportunities for students to gain the knowledge, skills, and attitudes necessary to succeed in global society. USAC sends students to study abroad in more than 50 programs around the world. USAC’s success is a product of our staff, both in the U.S. and abroad. This position is responsible for handling USAC-focused outreach and recruiting efforts for USAC programs at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. This position will work closely with the UNLV Study Abroad Staff to promote USAC study abroad opportunities and to recruit UNLV students for USAC programs. This position will also serve as a USAC-specific Study Abroad Advisor at UNLV. This position will be a bridge between UNLV staff and various USAC departments as needed. They will create, lead, and oversee USAC-related events year-round on the UNLV campus, including IEW Week and USAC Week; they will create USAC/UNLV recruiting promotional materials, coordinate classroom presentations, various forms of outreach, events, activities, USAC knowledge-building on campus, and more. This position will be based at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. The position is in person and based on the UNLV campus. A requirement of working on the UNLV campus is signing UNLV’s Volunteer / Contingent Worker agreement, in addition to a USAC contract. This is a USAC position. This position may include some local travel in the Las Vegas and Reno area. This position reports to the USAC Director of Institutional Relations and is part of the Institutional Relations Department. Some tasks will be reported to the UNLV International Programs Director.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • Personal study abroad experience, and/or travel or living abroad experience
  • A self-starter with excellent customer service, human relations, and interpersonal skills
  • Strong analytical skills, creative problem-solving, project- and time-management skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work well independently in the office and/or while at out-of-office events

Nice To Haves

  • 1-2 years international education-related experience preferred
  • Experience living, studying, or working abroad preferred
  • Prior professional experience at UNLV, within the Nevada System of Higher Education (NSHE), and/or USAC
  • USAC program alumnus

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategic outreach and recruitment initiatives on the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV) campus to increase awareness of and participation in USAC study abroad programs.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between USAC and the UNLV community, fostering and maintaining relationships with students, faculty, staff, administrators, campus offices, student organizations, residence life, and community partners.
  • Establish and expand partnerships across campus to support study abroad engagement and recruitment efforts.
  • Represent USAC at university-sponsored and community events, providing information about study abroad opportunities and promoting international education initiatives.
  • Plan, coordinate, and oversee USAC participation in campus recruitment and promotional activities, including study abroad fairs, information sessions, orientation programs, International Education Week events, USAC Week activities, and other outreach initiatives.
  • Organize and deliver presentations to students and campus stakeholders in classrooms, student organizations, residence halls, advising offices, and other campus venues.
  • Develop and manage outreach requests, event participation, and promotional opportunities both on campus and within the local community.
  • Maintain a visible and active presence on the UNLV campus to engage students and promote study abroad opportunities.
  • Provide general advising to prospective and current students regarding USAC study abroad programs, application processes, program options, and participation requirements.
  • Guide students through the UNLV study abroad process and remain knowledgeable about university policies, procedures, and requirements.
  • Assist students in understanding financial resources available for study abroad, including financial aid opportunities and internal and external scholarships.
  • Support prospective students through the decision-making process by providing accurate and timely information both in person and virtually.
  • Collaborate with Institutional Relations and Marketing and Communications teams to develop UNLV-specific recruitment materials and student resources.
  • Advise UNLV faculty regarding USAC opportunities, including visiting professor programs, faculty-led initiatives, and other international engagement opportunities.
  • Partner with other USAC offices and university stakeholders to share effective outreach strategies, resources, and best practices.
  • Generate, track, and maintain prospective student leads through approved outreach and recruitment channels.
  • Maintain accurate records of prospective student inquiries, applicants, outreach activities, and recruitment outcomes.
  • Prepare reports, presentations, proposals, and other documentation for USAC leadership and university stakeholders.
  • Respond to inquiries from students, faculty, staff, and community members regarding USAC programs and services.
  • Manage inventory, requests, and distribution of USAC promotional and recruitment materials.
