About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a Central Processing Tech for its Treasure Valley Labs in Boise, Idaho. The full-time evening-shift role performs and coordinates activities in the clinical laboratory’s central processing area, ensuring the quality and quantity of inpatient and outpatient specimens sent for in-house testing and to reference laboratories. The position also handles reference laboratory billing, registers specimens received from outside locations, works cooperatively with Treasure Valley Labs, and provides clinical staff with support on laboratory test questions and ordering tests in the EMR. The role reports to the POCT Laboratory Coordinator. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., with occasional weekend coverage as needed. A high school diploma or equivalent is required. Some college education or an associate degree is preferred; courses requiring lab work are a plus. Prior experience in a hospital setting or reference laboratory is preferred.

Responsibilities

Perform and coordinate activities in the clinical laboratory’s central processing area.
Ensure the quality and quantity of inpatient and outpatient clinical laboratory specimens sent for in-house testing and to reference laboratories.
Handle billing functions for reference laboratories.
Register patient specimens received from outside locations.
Work cooperatively with Treasure Valley Labs on specimens received for testing.
Serve as a resource for clinical staff regarding laboratory test questions.
Help clinical staff with ordering laboratory tests in the EMR.
