About The Position

Saint Alphonsus Health System is seeking a Central Processing Tech for its Treasure Valley Labs in Boise, Idaho. This full-time role applies phlebotomy or laboratory technician experience to coordinate the clinical laboratory’s central processing activities and help ensure the quality and quantity of specimens submitted for in-house testing and reference laboratories. The position also handles reference-laboratory billing, registers specimens received from outside locations, works cooperatively with Treasure Valley Labs, and supports clinical staff with laboratory test and EMR ordering questions. The role reports directly to the POCT Laboratory Coordinator. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:15 p.m. to 11:45 p.m., with occasional weekend coverage as needed. Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent.
Current phlebotomy or laboratory technician experience and skills are referenced as applicable to the role.

Nice To Haves

Some college education or an associate degree.
Courses requiring laboratory work.
Prior experience working in a hospital setting or reference laboratory.

Responsibilities

Perform and coordinate activities in the clinical laboratory’s central processing area.
Maintain accountability for the quality and quantity of inpatient and outpatient specimens sent for in-house testing and to reference laboratories.
Perform billing functions for reference laboratories.
Register patient specimens received from outside locations.
Work cooperatively with Treasure Valley Labs on specimens received for testing.
Serve as a resource for clinical staff regarding laboratory test questions and ordering laboratory tests in the EMR.
