About The Position

The Central Processing Technician is an essential member of the Laboratory services team, conducting patient and new-hire laboratory testing. The role includes clerical support, specimen preparation and processing, and blood drawing for outpatients and new employees. The technician must be able to travel to an off-site patient service center to draw blood.

Requirements

• One to two years of recent phlebotomy experience.
• High school diploma or GED.
• Knowledge of hospital, federal, and state patient-safety and infection-control regulations and guidelines.
• Basic proficiency in Microsoft applications, including Outlook.
• Excellent interpersonal, customer service, and communication skills.
• Transportation to report to an off-site patient service center to draw blood.

Nice To Haves

• Medical Assistant or Phlebotomy Certification is preferred but not required.

Responsibilities

• Answer phones, file, and mail or fax patient reports.
• Prepare specimens for testing at reference laboratories.
• Draw blood from outpatients and new employees.
• Handle, label, and process specimens.
