About The Position

The Central Academy for Learning and Innovation (CALI) Teacher K/1 position requires proficiency in project-based learning (PBL) related to teaching, learning, and student engagement. The role demands a flexible schedule, creativity, and strong organizational skills. The teacher will engage students in PBL units integrating multiple subjects, differentiate instruction to meet diverse needs, and prioritize brain science and wellbeing by fostering a calm, cooperative classroom environment with an emphasis on mental health, conflict resolution, and character development. The position involves facilitating inquiry-based learning, communicating with families, collaborating with colleagues, participating in professional development, and assisting administration with policy implementation. The teacher will also perform administrative tasks such as tracking attendance and grades, managing schedules, and serving as a liaison between students, parents, and school staff. Adherence to all local, state, and federal policies is required, along with conducting parent-teacher conferences and implementing strategies for digital citizenship and a safe learning environment. Participation in IEP/504 meetings and maintaining emotional and physical health are also key aspects of the role.

Requirements

  • Valid Oklahoma teacher certification required; multiple grade levels and/or subject levels STRONGLY preferred
  • Demonstrated effectiveness in the use of technology, to include, but not limited to: Learning Management Systems (e.g. Seesaw); Microsoft Office; Adobe; online training or teaching software; and technologies to facilitate engagement and interaction
  • Ability to build effective relationship and work collaboratively in an project based learning environment
  • Ability to communicate effectively through various communication channels, including video, written and oral

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum of three years of successful classroom teaching experience preferred
  • Experience teaching or training in an online or virtual environment preferred

Responsibilities

  • Engage students in Project-Based Learning (PBL) units that integrate multiple subjects (Math, ELA, Science, Social Studies, Art) into cohesive, hands-on experiences.
  • Differentiate instruction dynamically to meet the diverse needs of learners, allowing for student voice and choice in how they demonstrate mastery including teaching multi age bands.
  • Prioritize Brain Science and Wellbeing by integrating a calm, natural classroom environment with an emphasis on cooperation over competition, strong mental health habits, conflict resolution, and character development into the daily rhythm of the class.
  • Facilitate and organize inquiry-based learning where student questions, interests, and problem-solving play an active role.
  • Communicate regularly with families regarding student growth, learning experiences, and support needs.
  • Collaborate with colleagues, administrators, and support staff to strengthen instructional practice and program development.
  • Participate in professional learning and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Assist administration in developing/implementing policies, rules and regulations.
  • Attend and participate in faculty and professional activities.
  • Complete reports and other school related paperwork within time and date requested.
  • Accept the responsibility and arrive punctually for activities and duties as assigned.
  • Serve as a liaison between the student, the parent, and Yukon Public Schools staff.
  • Perform administrative tasks on a daily basis, to include: attendance; tracking student grades and progress; managing schedules and meetings; and communicating with school personnel, the student and parents.
  • Adhere to all local, state, and federal policies, procedures and laws that apply to employees of Yukon Public Schools.
  • Schedule and conduct parent-teacher conferences.
  • Implement strategies that promote digital citizenship and fosters a safe and healthy learning environment.
  • Participate in IEP/504 meetings on site as needed.
  • Maintain appropriate emotional control, physical health and personal appearance.
  • Performs such other tasks and assumes other tasks and responsibilities as may be assigned by the Principal and/or Superintendent.
