About The Position

Under the supervision of the Center Director, the Center Nutrition Aide supports the daily operation of the Center's nutrition program including Grab and Go meals, congregate meals. The position is responsible for food receiving, meal preparation, inventory, and kitchen sanitation. The Center Nutrition Aide ensures that food handling, sanitation, and meal service activities are performed in accordance with established PCA procedures and food safety requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Basic math and reading skills.
  • Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions.
  • Demonstrate excellent customer service skills.
  • SERV Safe Certification required at hire

Nice To Haves

  • Experience working in a food service or production facility preferred.
  • Knowledge of safe food handling, sanitation and safety practices a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Receive and check the food for proper temperature when it arrives from the caterer and before it is served and record on appropriate forms.
  • Complete all required forms and documentation.
  • Oversee the volunteers that work in the kitchen and keep a daily log sheet of their time. Ensure the volunteers are logging their hours in Copilot through the touch screen.
  • Keep an accurate account of items and supplies received from the caterer.
  • Oversee and assist with the clean-up after meal hours.
  • Maintain a clean and orderly work area and kitchen.
  • Review and discuss menus with the Center Director and work with the Program Coordinator to develop festive meal ideas and chef guided meals.
  • Follows all safe food handling requirements.
  • Ensure all staff and volunteers working in the kitchen attend the monthly trainings and document for file.
  • Attends quarterly menu reviews (in person and virtual) and provide updates and holiday meal schedules to the Center Director.
  • Follows all center procedures for meal reservations and lunch service.
  • Responsible for preparing the Grab and Go lunches for pick up.
  • Maintain a file of the caterer meal delivery slips and distribute to appropriate center staff. Return the pink meal slips via the PCA Courier the first courier day of the new month.
  • Responsible for preparing items, maintaining the inventory, notifying center director of supply needs, and operating the breakfast program.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
