About The Position

Grifols is hiring a Center Medical Specialist for a plasma donation center. The role is open to candidates who are EMTs, paramedics, LPNs/LVNs, or RNs. Salary is based on licensure and experience. The specialist assesses donor suitability, supports donor safety and satisfaction, manages injuries and adverse events, and contributes to employee training and vaccination programs. Work takes place in a plasma center and involves potential exposure to biological fluids, infectious organisms, electrical office and laboratory equipment, and extreme cold in plasma freezers. Required personal protective equipment includes protective eyewear, garments, gloves, and cold-weather gear.

Requirements

Be educated and currently certified or licensed in the state of employment, in accordance with state requirements, as a Registered Nurse, Licensed Practical Nurse, Licensed Vocational Nurse, Paramedic, or EMT.
Current CPR certification is required.
Ability to communicate information and ideas clearly and to listen to and understand spoken information.
Ability to work independently and follow oral or written instructions.
Ability to perform a wide range of tasks in response to variable demands and changing conditions.
Ability to relate sensitive information to diverse groups.
Physical ability to stand and sit for up to 2 to 4 hours per day each; bend and twist the neck for 1 to 2 hours per day; frequently move both hands and feet; make precise, coordinated finger movements; occasionally walk, bend, and twist at the waist; and rarely squat, crouch, or sit on one's heels.
Ability to lift 15 pounds routinely and a maximum of 50 pounds, and reach below shoulder height.
Essential hearing acuity; color perception/discrimination; and near and far vision correctable in one eye to 20/30 and the other eye to 20/100.

Responsibilities

Perform physical examinations and establish medical histories to determine donor suitability.
Build rapport with donors to support overall customer satisfaction.
Protect donor and staff confidentiality.
Inform donors about potential hazards.
Provide general health education and counseling regarding unacceptable test results.
Evaluate and manage donor injuries and adverse events.
Evaluate histories of illness and medication use to confirm continued donor suitability.
Assist with employee training.
Administer the employee Hepatitis Vaccine program.
