About The Position

The Davis Street Child Development Center (CDC) at Ashland Roots Community Center in San Leandro, CA is seeking a Center Director. This is a newly opened State Subsidized CCTR Preschool Center operating Monday-Friday from 7 am to 6 pm, with two classrooms licensed for up to 36 children aged 2-5 years. This is a full-time position at 37.5 hours per week with excellent company-paid benefits.

Requirements

  • Site Supervisor permit required.
  • Current pediatric CPR/First Aid certification and Preventive Health Practices
  • Live scan clearance
  • Health Screening Report including TB test clearance.

  • Dependable, Creative, flexible, organized and ability to prioritize with administrative and classrooms supervision duties, ability to manage multiple deadlines and time management skills to meet success.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the overall operations of the site/center to ensure quality and subsidy compliant childcare services, outreach, and growth outcomes.
  • Implementing and maintaining the Dept. of Social Services State licensing regulations for a Title 5 Center; and designated to ensure compliance for both CCTR regulatory compliance for the funding terms and conditions, all CLL announced and unannounced visits, and any corrective actions if they are to occur.
  • Hire, supervise, train, and monitor performance of the teaching staff on site to adhere to quality teaching lesson plans, DRDPs, CACFP guidance and to ensure appropriate child-teacher interactions.
  • Maintain the enrollment in collaboration with Enrollment Specialists to ensure operating costs stay within budget projections for the site.
  • Ensure all children are developmentally assessed and that an educational plan is developed and implemented with age-appropriate curriculum that meets the individual needs of the children enrolled.
  • Ensure the center rooms and play areas are well maintained in a clean, orderly, and in healthy and safe condition at all times.
  • Monitors, expedites, and follows up with any work orders for the center, rooms and play areas as needed with proper contacts or vendors.
  • Maintains proper staff level to ensure teacher-to-child ratios are met in accordance with licensing regulations and Davis Street safety standards.
  • Participating in classrooms as needed to substitute, provide breaks or any other ratio coverage needs.
  • Conduct parent/teacher conferences and provide information to parents concerning their children's development, abilities, and areas of concern; explain program procedures and classroom activities as requested.
  • Report incidents of suspected child abuse of the center to proper authorities and ensure staff is trained and certified.
  • Document for center files.
  • Plans and coordinate monthly site staff meetings to promote ongoing staff development and communication.
  • Provides parents with information on other Davis Street agency services and provides referrals to outside services as needed.
  • Manages and maintains the Title 5 programs and regulatory health and safety standards for the assigned center.
  • Manage and maintain a daily food program CACFP, including ordering food supplies, kitchen/cooking facilities, supervision of an assigned staff to meal preparation, complying with child nutritional needs, meeting program record keeping and reporting requirements.
  • May provide support and work in collaboration with existing Center Directors and teaching staff as needed.
  • May provide support to other centers for licensing announced and unannounced visits.
  • Assist with overall Davis Street Outreach, special projects as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.
