About The Position

The Graduate Intern for the Office of Community-Engaged Learning and Service at Belmont University will focus on supporting the work of the office as it seeks to connect students, faculty, and the community in ways that enhance the learning experience for our students while working with the community to make it stronger. The Graduate Intern will receive a regular evaluation by the direct supervisor related to work progress and performance. The Graduate Intern will maintain a 10-hour/week schedule set at the beginning of each semester. Time off and schedule adjustments would need to be approved in advance by supervisor. Will embody Belmont University’s Vision, Mission, and Values. Will maintain effective and efficient communication with supervisor.

Requirements

  • Students enrolled in higher education graduate programs.
  • An interest in pursuing a career in service-learning/civic engagement and/or a higher education related field.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and support our team efforts.
  • Effective communication, computer, problem solving, organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Pursuing coursework in Community Development and Action, Higher Education Administration, Leadership and Organizational Performance, or related field.
  • Must be enrolled as a graduate student at Belmont University.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with peer mentoring or supervision is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with managing the Get Connected software platform, including helping keep community agency documentation up to date, providing training for students, faculty, and community partners, assisting with the setup of service-learning modules for classes and event modules for special initiatives, troubleshooting user difficulties, ensuring reports are submitted in a timely manner, and coordinating undergraduate student workers who support these functions.
  • Assist in the daily documentation of student service reflections and hours, as well as timely communication with students, faculty, and community partners to verify involvement in service activities, while overseeing undergraduate student workers who help manage these processes.
  • Assist with planning and implementing campus wide service initiatives such as, but not limited to Community Connections Fair, Diversity Week, MLK Day of Service, Family Literacy Day.
  • Assist with WellCore paneling events monthly.
  • Attend university events and represent CELS at the BruinLink fair, Preview and Be Belmont Days as able.
  • Attend our team meetings and contribute ideas to better serve our students, faculty, and community partners
  • Assist with conducting regular assessments of students, faculty, and community partners with relation to their service-learning and civic engagement efforts.
  • Other duties as assigned.
