About The Position

The Clinical Laboratory for Cellular Therapy (CLfCT) is a FACT accredited facility for processing stem cell transplant & donor lymphocyte collections and processing cellular therapy products for investigatory clinical trials including CD34 selections, CAR-T and TIL infusions and manufacturing Immune Effector Cell Therapies (IECT). Cell Therapy Specialists will perform innovative techniques such as cell counting, flow cytometry for lymphocyte subsetting, plasma reduction, RBC reduction, cryopreservation and will become proficient in the use of cell manufacturing equipment such as CliniMACS PLUS, CliniMACS PRODIGY, Quantum Bioreactor for cell expansion. Cellular Therapy Specialists will participate in many sponsor-initiated clinical trials involving a variety of cell-based therapeutics. As the field of cell therapy continues to expand, Cellular Therapy Specialists will also participate in the development of cutting edge protocols and procedures for manufacturing new products. Cellular Therapy Specialists participate in the quality management program and ensure daily operations are in compliance with regulatory/accreditation requirements including FACT, FDA, CLIA, CAP and JCAHO.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in biology, medical technology, laboratory science or equivalent scientific field required.
  • Minimum 1 year experience working in a clinical or research lab or equivalent GMP/GLP setting (Required).
  • Experience using MS Office including Word, Excel (Required).

Nice To Haves

  • Minimum 1 year experience working with tissue culture techniques, flow cytometry and/or molecular biological assays (Preferred).

Responsibilities

  • Processing, storage and infusion preparation of hematopoietic stem cells, donor lymphocytes, immune effector cells & other cellular therapy products in support of the Blood and Marrow Transplant Program
  • Training & maintaining competencies of immune cell analysis via flow cytometry, plasma/RBC reductions, cell selections, cell expansions, cryopreservation, thawing and quality control testing as part of product release
  • Receiving, Handling, Storing, Transporting & Administering externally manufactured products
  • Manufacturing novel cellular therapy products (CAR-T, TILs, Mesenchymal Stem Cells, etc.) for Jefferson Investigator-initiated clinical trials
  • Developing & Implementing new research protocols, laboratory SOPs & validation assays in collaboration with Jefferson Physicians/Investigators for expanding cellular therapeutic needs
  • Maintaining patient records per GDPs both on paper and in computer databases
  • Performing environmental monitoring of laboratory spaces, equipment and supplies
  • Participating in On-call service and Responding to Alarms Notifications regarding patient sample storage
  • Interacting with Patients, Physicians, Nursing Staff, Quality Assurance Staff and Administrative teams
  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the core values of the Hospital.
