About The Position

The Clinical Apheresis Cellular Therapy Nurse (CTRN) is an integral member of Carter BloodCare’s (CBC) mobile cellular therapy apheresis service. The CTRN is responsible for performing cellular therapy collection procedures for CBC clients in and around the Dallas/Fort Worth area, and occasionally in other areas of Texas. The CTRN independently performs critical tasks in assessing, initiating, monitoring, and completing apheresis collections in both inpatient and outpatient/donor center settings. This position provides nursing oversight of apheresis technicians, and nursing care is provided under the supervision of the patient's physician or a CBC Medical Director, in accordance with physician orders. The CTRN exemplifies and champions CBC Core Values and Code of Conduct, and adheres to CBC policies and applicable Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs). To support ongoing development and organizational goals, the CTRN is required to attend meetings and training sessions, as assigned. The CTRN maintains active, current professional licensure and/or certifications as required by role-specific regulations and organizational requirements. A valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record (as specified in the current Vehicle Safety Loss Control Guidelines) are required. This position may require working varied shifts, extended hours, weekends, and/or overtime to support operational needs. Regular full-time attendance is required during normal working hours.

Requirements

  • RN with active unencumbered licensure in the State of Texas
  • Current American Heart Association accredited Basic Life Support (BLS) Provider Certification
  • Minimum of 3 years of nursing experience in one of the following: hospital setting, oncology unit, intensive care unit, or dialysis center
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license and an acceptable driving record
  • Ability to communicate (written, verbal) with others (e.g., internal & external clients, co-workers), in a clear, understandable, professional and effective manner
  • Strong customer service skills and the use of appropriate interpersonal styles to establish effective relationships with patients, donors, researchers, and other healthcare professionals to promote openness and trust
  • Ability to work independently in various care settings (e.g., Inpatient Units, Outpatient Clinics, Donor Centers)
  • Ability to demonstrate strong assessment and critical thinking skills related to the care of patients and determine if patients/donors can safely undergo and continue apheresis treatments
  • Ability to provide safe and effective patient care in compliance with CBC and contracted hospital and research project standards, policies, and procedures, as well as state and federal regulations
  • Strong phlebotomy skills and competency in care and the accessing of central venous catheters
  • Ability to walk, stoop, bend, use hands, reach with hands and arms
  • Ability to lift and carry objects weighing up to approximately 25 pounds
  • Ability to concentrate while working in a moderate amount of noise and dealing with frequent distractions
  • Ability to work in a variety of settings (e.g., inpatient, outpatient clinic, donor center) and with various healthcare professionals (e.g., physicians, nurses, medical technologists, coordinators)
  • Normal vision requirements

  • Research and/or pediatric experience, preferred
  • Apheresis experience, preferred
