About The Position

The Department of Biological Science at CSU Fullerton invites applications for its Part-Time Lecturer Pool. We welcome applications from individuals who are experienced and student-centered to teach in various subject areas including General Biology, Introductory and Intermediate Cell and Molecular Biology, Genetics, Advanced Cell and Molecular Biology, Advances in Biotechnology Lab, Microbiology, Molecular Virology, Cellular Neurobiology, Developmental Biology, Stem Cell Biology, Immunology, Cancer Biology, and Plant Molecular Biology. This is a part-time appointment, typically to teach credit-bearing biology courses in person, at the lower division level. Responsibility for a course will be vested in the lecturer, sometimes under the direct supervision of an appropriate faculty member. Teaching assignments may include multi-section coordinated courses, requiring instructors to abide by all coordinated course policies. Appointments from this pool are temporary and often made just prior to the start of the academic term, with applicants potentially being offered employment on very short notice.

Requirements

• A Masters or PhD degree in Cellular and Molecular Biology or related field or equivalent experience.
• Prior teaching experience at the university level.
• Ability to interact and work effectively with a wide and culturally diverse range of students, including first-generation college students.
• Content knowledge of the various subject areas listed.
• Spoken English communication skills.
• Written English communication skills.
• Computer skills.
• Professional presentation and demeanor.

Responsibilities

• Providing classroom instruction.
• Preparing course materials and administering assignments to students.
• Administering examinations, grading student work and otherwise assessing student performance, and determining course grades.
• Holding scheduled office hours.
• Attending all weekly lab preparatory meetings.
• Participating in all class field trips, if applicable.
• Completing all necessary training.
• Attending Lecturers Meetings.
