About The Position

This is a technical, problem-solving role for someone who knows cellar processes inside and out and loves digging into the "why" behind the way things work. The Cellar Technologist supports the cellar department through process optimization, SOP and technical documentation, trials, and troubleshooting — working closely with engineering, maintenance, shift supervisors, and brewers along the way. If you're the person your team turns to when something needs to be figured out, not just fixed, this role is built for you. This role reports to the Cellar Manager.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a production-scale brewery environment
  • Advanced knowledge of cellar equipment and processes
  • Strong troubleshooting methodology and ability to solve unique, complex problems
  • Proficiency in MS Office and Google Suite
  • Excellent organizational skills, attention to detail, and time management
  • A positive attitude — this role requires close collaboration across teams
  • Ability to lift 55 lbs and move 165 lbs as needed
  • Ability to stand for extended periods

Nice To Haves

  • Brewer 2 or Supervisor experience preferred
  • Bachelor's degree in the sciences or related brewing education a plus
  • Experience with automated equipment a plus

Responsibilities

  • Review, update, and maintain cellar SOPs based on evolving processes and best practices
  • Write new SOPs for cellar processes when a need is identified
  • Maintain cellar programming punchlists — reviewing shift reports and escalating needs to programming resources
  • Routinely meet with programmers to review action items and progress
  • Build and maintain troubleshooting guides, Lockout/Tagout procedures, Critical Parameter sheets, and Proleit trends
  • Escalate CAPEX needs to brewing management and scope "Welding Project" work orders
  • Coordinate and execute technical trials with support from the Cellar Manager
  • Troubleshoot day-to-day technical issues alongside production and maintenance
  • Partner with the LDC to develop technical training and guides
  • Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work environment in adherence with PPE and GMP requirements
