About The Position

The Cell Leader, Materials (Water Spider Hybrid) plays a critical role in supporting daily production flow by combining hands-on material management with cell leadership responsibilities. In addition to performing assembly-related work, this role is responsible for production scheduling, material availability, inventory accuracy, and driving continuous improvement within the cell. This position partners closely with production associates, supervisors, and supply chain teams to ensure on-time delivery, quality performance, and efficient operations. In this role, you will help drive flow, eliminate waste, and maintain inventory accuracy while supporting team performance and daily execution of production priorities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment; electrical panel assembly preferred
  • Prior experience in material handling, inventory control, or Kanban systems preferred
  • Willingness to work overtime as needed
  • Ability to lift 20–35 pounds and perform tasks requiring manual dexterity
  • Strong planning and organizational skills with ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment
  • Proven problem-solving skills with ability to analyze data and drive root cause resolution
  • Effective communication and ability to influence across all levels of the organization
  • Strong collaboration skills and team-oriented mindset
  • Basic computer proficiency (ERP systems, Microsoft Office)
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, and production orders

Responsibilities

  • Schedule and prioritize production orders across assigned cells
  • Distribute schedules and shop orders to ensure alignment with production priorities
  • Act as the primary point of contact for scheduling coordination and execution
  • Support staffing coverage by filling in for absent team members as needed
  • Provide input into performance evaluations and support associate development
  • Partner with supervisors to coordinate vacation schedules and resource planning
  • Pull materials from receiving and kit into Kanban or production-ready quantities
  • Ensure materials are stocked at point-of-use and presented for efficient assembly
  • Manage Kanban card process, including pulling, logging, and scanning for replenishment
  • Proactively monitor inventory levels and identify early or late Kanban triggers
  • Investigate discrepancies between system and physical inventory and resolve issues
  • Lead root cause analysis for inventory discrepancies and material shortages
  • Initiate inventory adjustments, work orders (WO), or purchase orders (PO) as needed
  • Collaborate with Buyers, Inventory Control, and production teams to resolve issues
  • Review aged or excess inventory and support disposition of non-moving materials
  • Enter nonconforming material into the appropriate quality tracking systems
  • Maintain takt time boards and ensure accuracy of production tracking tools
  • Review demand exception reports and adjust priorities to meet customer needs
  • Track and post daily, weekly, and monthly service level metrics
  • Monitor defects and record quality data to support improvement efforts
  • Drive corrective actions to meet delivery and quality targets
  • Support 5S and maintain a clean, organized work environment
  • Ensure adherence to ISO standards and internal quality requirements
  • Reinforce compliance with standard work across all cell activities
  • Support training and onboarding of new and existing cell associates
