About The Position

In this role, you will report to the Territory Area Manager and will work closely with the Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services professionals to serve our customers by performing customized, mission-based lab work and research protocols that help return time back to science. Avantor’s Advanced Laboratory Services team is a crucial part of the Avantor Services group serving over 500 customers in biopharma, pharmaceutical, educational, industrial, and high-tech industries with customizable, flexible solutions and end-to-end laboratory operations support.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED required
1–2 years of experience in a laboratory environment or familiarity with lab processes and procedures preferred
Proficient in Microsoft Office and comfortable using computers
Ability to lift 40 lbs
Strong verbal and written communication skills for interaction with internal teams and external clients.
Demonstrated ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and maintain close attention to detail.
Commitment to following site protocols, safety policies, and quality standards.

Nice To Haves

Associate or Bachelor’s degree in a scientific discipline preferred.
Familiarity with sample management systems, especially LIMS, is a plus.
Experience with laboratory instruments and test preparation preferred.
Experience with Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs), including drafting, is advantageous.

Responsibilities

Create a daily pick list for the scientist-requested cell lines.
Retrieve and transport cell lines from the Cell Bank to designated drop-off locations, including for external shipments.
Receive external cell line shipments and ship out requested cell lines according to established practices.
Return newly grown cell lines to the cell bank as required.
Manually handle cryobank racks to select and prepare cell lines for delivery and shipment.
Utilize Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) for tracking and documentation of cell lines (Limfinity).
Work with other Avantor services teams to ensure the cell bank has the necessary consumables and PPE.
Monitor and manage liquid nitrogen dewars connected to cryo freezers.
Maintain the cleanliness and organization of cell banking areas.
Identify and report safety concerns promptly.
Recommend and support improvements to current practices and workflows.
