About The Position

EXP is currently searching for a CEI Roadway Inspector for our Orlando, FL office to work on Florida Department of Transportation projects. The role involves documenting all site activities, overseeing contractor compliance, reviewing construction documents, and ensuring accurate measurements for payments. The inspector will also assist with contract submissions, perform material testing, and monitor work zone traffic control. The position may require weekend and evening work.

Requirements

  • Experience as an Inspector on Florida Department of Transportation projects in the Tampa/Orlando, FL area.
  • High School diploma or equivalent plus (1+) years of experience in construction inspection, two years of which shall have been in bridge/or roadway construction inspection.
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Inspector level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Inspector Level I & II.
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level 1
  • Advanced Maintenance of Traffic
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, with a heavy emphasis on Excel, Word, FDOT Sites.
  • Applicant must have a valid driver’s license and clear motor vehicle report
  • Able to lift a minimum of 25 lbs.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Able to work a shift schedule and/or flexible schedule as required to support the workload.
  • Ability to communicate and work in a team-oriented environment.
  • Teamwork, leadership, Communication are essential.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with FDOT construction and specifications desired.

Responsibilities

  • Document all activities on site during duration of the contract and prepare inspection reports.
  • Oversee, document, review, and assess contractor’s compliance with contractual requirements.
  • Review construction documents and drawings in order to minimize issues and to reduce the potential for extra work orders during construction.
  • Take accurate and detailed measurements of all work performed by the contractor to ensure accurate payments.
  • Assist the Project Administrator with the review of contract submissions (critical path schedules, RFI’s, etc.)
  • Inspection and testing of soils, concrete, steel and masonry materials for road and bridge projects.
  • Reading and interpreting drawings and specifications.
  • Observing general job safety practices.
  • Monitoring and inspecting the Work Zone Traffic Control in accordance with contract documents.
