About The Position

We oversee every construction phase to help ensure projects are completed on schedule, within budget, and to the highest safety and quality standards. What you’ll be challenged to do: Independently performs the most difficult and complex inspection tasks, including assessing adherence to quality control procedures for steel. Inspection activities are usually concentrated in one of the following areas: soils, concrete, steel, mechanical or electrical. Frequently serves in the capacity of Lead Inspector. In this capacity, the successful candidate will be responsible for the following:

Requirements

  • High school graduate or equivalent
  • 4 years of experience in construction inspection
  • 2 years of which shall have been in bridge and/or roadway construction inspection
  • A Civil Engineering degree and one (1) year of road & bridge CEI experience with the ability to earn additional required qualifications within one year can be substituted for years of experience
  • CTQP Concrete Field Technician Level I
  • ACI Field Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level I
  • CTQP Earthwork Construction Inspection Level II
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level I
  • CTQP Asphalt Roadway Level II
  • CTQP Drilled Shaft Inspection
  • FDOT Intermediate MOT
  • CTQP Final Estimates Level I
  • IMSA Traffic Signal Technician Level I
  • Nuclear Radiation Safety
  • Florida Stormwater, Erosion and Sediment Control Training Certification
  • FDOT Critical Structures Construction Issues, Self-Study Course

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with JEA underground utilities is recommended.
  • CTQP Concrete Field Inspector Level II (Bridges)
  • CTQP Pile Driving Inspection
  • CTQP Grouting Technician Level I
  • CTQP Post-Tensioning Technician Level I

Responsibilities

  • Inspects various facets of work on the JEA and FDOT construction site to ensure compliance with all applicable codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Documents nonconformance and participates in determining appropriate resolution.
  • Reads and interprets blueprints and construction specifications.
  • Conduct tests to determine if work has been done in accordance with contract specifications.
  • Documents nonconformance and participates determining appropriate resolution.
  • Develop job safety practices and drafts safety reports.
  • Drafts quality control reports and procedures.
  • Provides guidance for lower-level inspectors.
