About The Position

Facilitate clinical learning experiences for students in continuing education nursing classes. Ensure all requirements for clinical site placement are met. Assist the assistant director – continuing education health and wellness with new and existing affiliation agreements, clinical site relationships and placement, clinical compliance, clinical instruction for cohorts, student recruitment, and any student issues that may arise.

Requirements

  • Master’s degree in Nursing from an accredited institution and five (5) years of experience as a registered nurse with at least two (2) years of clinical nursing care experience.
  • Familiarity of managing clinical site placements for a pre-licensed nursing education program.
  • Current and unencumbered licensure as a Registered Nurse (RN) by the State Board of Texas is required.
  • American Heart Association Basic Life Support Certification for Health Care Providers.
  • Knowledge of nursing
  • Knowledge of guidelines for the profession of nursing as set forth by the Accreditation Council on Education in Nursing (ACEN) or equivalent program accreditor, The Texas Board of Nursing, and/or the D/FW Hospital Council
  • Knowledge of clinical student education requirements in healthcare facilities (e.g. hospitals, clinics, etc.)

Responsibilities

  • Follow mandated guidelines set forth by the Accreditation Council for Education in Nursing (ACEN), Texas State Board of Nursing, and DFW Hospital Council to ensure all mandated requirements are met for clinical experiences.
  • Ensure all student and instructor guidelines/requirements are met and appropriately documented for clinical site placement, including providing documentation of mandatory requirements to clinical site partners.
  • Utilize the Centralized Clinical Placement System (CCPS) or equivalent system used by clinical site partners to ensure clinical needs are requested, and requirements are met.
  • Coordinate clinical training by maintaining relationships with clinical facilities; pursuing new clinical agreements to ensure effective student clinical experiences; ensuring clinical contracts are reviewed and current; conducting and reporting clinical site evaluations; and developing and maintaining clinical rotation schedules.
  • Teach clinical skills at an affiliated clinical site to cohorts of up to 10-12 students.
  • Collaborate with instructors to explore opportunities to improve student learning experiences and provide recommendations as appropriate toward student instructional materials.
  • Assist the assistant director – continuing education health and wellness to ensure that minimum required competencies and contact hours for each student are met at the assigned clinical rotations and that records of student clinical performance, attendance, and other records pertaining to clinical training are maintained for each student.
  • Assist the assistant director – continuing education health and wellness with course recruitment and promotion to positively impact enrollment and clinical partner placements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
