About The Position

The CDL Yard Driver is responsible for moving loads around the truck yard and to various customer sites. This role requires the ability to skillfully back up trailers to dock doors, even in confined spaces. Key duties include verifying load accuracy, delivering products as instructed, and operating various warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, manual jacks, and forklifts. The driver will also assist customers and producers with loading and unloading trucks, handling products weighing up to 50 lbs. Basic vehicle maintenance, including cleaning the truck, and performing pre- and post-trip inspections are also part of the job.

Requirements

  • Class A (CDL)
  • Good customer service & teamwork skills
  • Good physical condition; must be able to get in and out of trucks several times per day
  • Able to work in all types of environments, including inclement weather
  • Good backing skills
  • Recent verifiable, driving experience or related
  • Current DOT medical card
  • No DUI/DWI, Careless/Reckless driving citations or revoked/suspended license in the past 5 years
  • No more than 2 moving violations within the past 3 years
  • MVR required for interview (current, dated within 30 days of application)
  • Prior to employment, able to pass a complete DOT physical, drug screen, criminal background check and road test
  • Available for any shift
  • Able to lift 35 pounds
  • Work jobs that have repetitive motion
  • Follow safe work practices and rules
  • Able to prove they have a right to work in the United States
  • Successfully pass a physician’s examination, drug screen and background check
  • Willing to have a baseline audiometric test
  • Sufficient work experience to be successful on the job

  • Prefer high school graduates or GEDs

Responsibilities

  • Move loads around the truck yard and to customer sites as needed
  • Ability to back up trailers to dock doors, often with other trailers on either side of the dock
  • Verify loads for accuracy and deliver as instructed
  • Use of other warehouse equipment such as pallet jacks, manual jacks and forklifts
  • Help customer and producer site with loading and unloading truck with product up to 50 lbs
  • Basic vehicle maintenance, clean out truck before or after moving
  • Perform pre- and post-trip inspections
