CDL Truck Driver Local No Touch Class A
About The Position
Ryder is hiring a local Class A CDL Truck Driver in Normal, Illinois. The driver works solo, shuttling auto-parts freight between facilities on local routes and returning home daily. Freight is no-touch and transported in a 48- or 53-foot dry van using a day cab. The schedule is Monday through Friday, with weekends during peak periods, and the start time is 6:00 p.m. Drivers work 50 or more hours per week. Ryder provides well-maintained trucks that are 36 months old or newer, 24/7 roadside maintenance, and fueling at more than 800 nationwide maintenance locations. Pay is $29.00 per hour, plus $1.00 per hour shift pay, with a stated minimum of $1,875 per week. The position offers weekly pay, quarterly safety bonuses, a sign-on bonus paid in two installments, and paid training. Requirements
- Be at least 21 years of age.
- Pass a Ryder drug test, background check, and motor vehicle check, including verification of drug and alcohol history with previous employers for the last three years.
- Pass a DOT physical and Ryder road test.
- Provide the appropriate CDL and endorsements for the position.
- Have Class A verifiable experience in a tractor-trailer or comparable vehicle: 9 months within the past 3 years, or 2 years within the last 5 years, or 5 years within the last 10 years.
- Be able to follow written and/or oral instructions.
- Be able to read, interpret, and apply laws, rules, regulations, policies, and/or procedures.
- Be prepared for additional screening where required, potentially including employment and education verification, motor vehicle records check, road test, and/or customer badging or background requirements.
Responsibilities
- Comply with applicable federal and state laws, regulations, agency rules, standards, and guidelines.
- Detect and eliminate or minimize safety hazards.
- Maintain accurate records and logs.
- Load or unload freight, or assist with loading or unloading if required by the customer.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
