CDL Truck Driver

Waste Management, Inc.•Medley, FL

About The Position

Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front-, side-, or rear-end load-lift attachments, depending on the line of business and vehicle. They transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Commercial drivers pick up containers of waste or recyclables, which may weigh more than 1,000 pounds and may need to be maneuvered to a pickup area. Residential drivers collect household waste or recyclables and safely maneuver vehicles in residential environments. Roll-off drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open-top and compactor containers from customer locations, sometimes working in tight overhead environments on industrial routes. The work involves navigating congested roadways, driveways, alleyways, and lots; skilled backing is essential. Drivers operate vehicles and equipment safely and reliably while complying with company, OSHA, DOT, and applicable laws and regulations. They inspect and document their assigned vehicles, communicate safety and service issues, follow route assignments, complete end-of-day documentation, and work with operations staff to meet customer needs. The role is designated safety-sensitive and requires strict compliance with safety protocols, including applicable drug and alcohol testing. WM describes its drivers as receiving competitive pay and benefits, career-growth opportunities, and being home at night and on weekends.
