About The Position

Residential Front Load Drivers service customers on assigned routes by collecting and hauling waste or recycling materials to a disposal site or recycling plant. The role involves operating different trucks and requires excellent driving and maneuvering skills. Drivers provide safe, compliant service, maintain route documentation and truck cleanliness, conduct inspections, and interact professionally with customers and coworkers. This position does not manage employees. The job description outlines general duties and may be subject to change at the company’s discretion.

Requirements

At least a valid Class B CDL.
A valid DOT Medical Card or the ability to obtain one before hire.
At least 19 years of age.
No more than three moving violations within the last two years.
No DUI or OVI within the last five years, or no more than two within the last ten years.
Legally eligible to work in the United States.
Valid driver’s license, if applicable.
Successfully complete pre-employment testing.
Ability to read and understand a map.
Ability to drive all types of trucks in the residential fleet.
Excellent truck driving and maneuvering skills.
General knowledge of truck mechanics.
Good written and verbal communication skills for professional communication with internal and external customers.
Ability to read and speak English well enough to communicate, understand, and respond to questions, directions, traffic signs, signals, and safety training.
Ability to travel between offices as required.
Ability to work flexible hours and work nights and weekends as needed; overtime, weekends, and holidays may be required.
Frequently lift, carry, push, or pull up to 20 pounds; occasionally up to 50 pounds; and rarely up to 100 pounds.
Work continuously outdoors in changing temperatures and wet or humid conditions, and in areas with dust, odors, mist, gases, and other airborne matter.
Occasionally stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, climb, or balance; frequently sit or stand and occasionally walk.
Potential exposure to high-traffic conditions, tight driving areas, and residential and commercial waste.

Nice To Haves

Waste industry experience is a plus.
One to two years of CDL truck-driving experience is preferred.

Responsibilities

Operate trucks safely and in compliance with requirements while collecting trash or recycling and hauling it to a disposal site.
Pull or push containers from enclosures or inside buildings when required.
Return trash or recycling carts neatly to the curb or designated area.
Clean up waste spills and overflows.
Maintain and update route sheets.
Keep the truck cab clean.
Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections and complete logs.
Interact professionally with internal and external customers and provide excellent customer service.
Clean waste from the packer blade and truck body while following proper Lock Out/Tag Out procedures.
Perform other duties as assigned.
