This role focuses on operating construction and maintenance equipment while supporting tasks that keep highways and bridges safe. You will complete a mix of equipment operation, manual labor, and field adjustments to support daily maintenance activities. As a PennDOT CDL Operator, you will perform the following duties: Equipment Operation: Operate trucks, loaders, and other machinery as required for maintenance activities License Compliance: Maintain a valid CDL and complete required checks and certifications for equipment operation Traffic Control: Perform flagging duties to safely guide traffic when not operating equipment Manual Labor: Use tools such as shovels, rakes, chainsaws, compressors, jack hammers, and mowers to complete maintenance tasks Equipment Upkeep: Make field adjustments, complete minor repairs, clean equipment, and demonstrate proper operation to others Safety Practices: Follow safety procedures, report hazards and injuries, and maintain awareness of work areas Environmental Duties: Carry out environmental protection requirements and attend designated environmental training
