About The Position

The Pennsylvania Department of Transportation’s (PennDOT) Carbon County Maintenance Organization is seeking full-time CDL Equipment Operators to help maintain the county’s essential transportation infrastructure that keeps our communities safe and connected. Requirements

Possession of an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver's License or equivalent with the Air Brake Restriction (L) removed
Possession of an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations
Ability to perform essential job functions
Successful completion of the Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee Program; or Graduation from a Commercial Driver’s License Training School; or An equivalent combination of experience and training

Ability to demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission

Responsibilities

Operate trucks, loaders, and other machinery used in highway and bridge maintenance
Perform daily equipment checks, maintain CDL requirements, and follow proper procedures
Use various hand tools to complete tasks such as cleaning culverts, cutting brush, repairing guiderails, and installing signs
Make necessary adjustments, clean equipment, and assist mechanics with repairs when needed
Follow safety practices, report hazards or injuries, and help maintain a safe work environment
Observe scheduled times, work efficiently, and support crew productivity during maintenance activities
