Requirements

  • Possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
  • Employees must demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission.
  • Employees must possess an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
  • Employees must possess an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations by the first day of work.
  • Must be able to perform essential job functions.
  • Conditional offer of employment will require submission of criminal history reports.
  • Conditional offer of employment will require a drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Learn to operate heavy trucks, loaders, and other equipment used on highway and bridge crews
  • Handle motorized and non-motorized tools such as shovels, saws, compressors, and mowers in daily tasks
  • Follow safety rules, make observations, and report conditions to protect yourself, coworkers, and the public
  • Stay alert to hazards, report incidents, and take action to reduce risks on the job
  • Carry out environmental protection steps and meet requirements from training programs
  • Assist with manual labor and other assigned maintenance duties
