PennDOT CDL Operator Trainee (Transportation Equipment Operator Trainee)
About The Position

Requirements
- Possession of an active Pennsylvania non-commercial Class C Driver's License or equivalent.
- All employees must possess an active Pennsylvania Class A or B Commercial Driver Learner's Permit on the first day of work.
- All positions require employees to possess an active Medical Examiner’s Certificate in accordance with Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration Regulations by the first day of work.
- Employees must demonstrate successful operation of equipment with a manual transmission.
- Subject to Drug and Alcohol testing in accordance with Federal Regulations.
- Must be able to perform essential job functions.
- Must pass a background investigation.
Responsibilities
- Train to operate trucks, loaders, and other construction equipment used in roadway maintenance
- Learn to use motorized and non-motorized tools to support tasks such as patching, clearing brush, and repairing structures
- Follow safety procedures, observe work areas, and report hazards, injuries, or unsafe practices
- Perform pre-operation and post-operation inspections and make basic adjustments to equipment
- Assist with manual labor tasks and help maintain a safe environment for coworkers and the public
- Carry out environmental protection steps required during maintenance activities
