About The Position

Byrne & Jones Construction is seeking an experienced Lowboy driver to join their team. The driver will be responsible for safely transporting heavy machinery, oversized loads, and specialized equipment using a lowboy trailer. This role requires exceptional driving skills, knowledge of load-securing techniques, and adherence to federal and state transportation regulations. Requirements

• Valid Class A Commercial Driver's License (CDL) with endorsements for heavy haul or oversized loads.
• Clean driving record.
• At least 2 years of experience driving heavy equipment transport.
• Knowledge of DOT regulations and oversized load permit requirements.
• Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
• Physical stamina to handle load security and vehicle inspections.
• Excellent communication and time management skills.

Nice To Haves

• Experience operating heavy machinery, such as bulldozers or excavators.
• Familiarity with GPS and route optimization tools.

Responsibilities

• Safely load, secure, and transport heavy machinery or oversized loads to designated locations using a lowboy trailer.
• Ensure proper securing of equipment using chains, binders, straps, and other tools to comply with safety regulations.
• Conduct thorough inspections of the truck, trailer, and load before and after trips to ensure safety and compliance.
• Plan routes based on load size and weight, avoiding restricted areas, low-clearance bridges, and other obstacles.
• Comply with all Department of Transportation (DOT) regulations, including weight limits, permits, and service hours.
• Perform routine maintenance and report mechanical issues to ensure the vehicle's reliability and safety.
• Coordinate with dispatchers, customers, and site managers to ensure timely deliveries and pickups.
• Follow company policies and industry best practices to maintain safety on the road and at delivery sites.
