About The Position

Roadmaster Drivers School, a subdivision of Werner Enterprises, Inc., is seeking experienced and highly qualified CDL Class A instructors. The ideal candidate will have the ability and desire to train the next generation of commercial truck drivers with professionalism, emphasizing safety and pride in their work. This role involves mentoring students on safety skills and best practices within the trucking industry.

Requirements

  • A valid Class A Commercial Driver’s License (CDL).
  • No more than two moving violations in a 12-month period, and/or no more than three moving violations in a 24-month period (driving records not complying will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis).
  • A minimum of 3 years of over-the-road or local commercial driving experience, and/or minimum criteria required to obtain instructor licensure within the applicable jurisdiction and meet all other licensure requirements.
  • Must pass and continuously maintain a U.S. Department of Transportation (DOT) physical.
  • Pass an approved DOT drug test and hair follicle drug test (HFT).
  • Agree to random and suspicion-based drug and alcohol screening.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with others using verbal and non-verbal/written skills.
  • Possess and demonstrate the physical, intellectual, and leadership ability to deliver the company’s approved training and curriculum to students in classroom, full pre-trip inspection, basic control skills, and road driving.
  • Successfully complete all required new hire onboarding and training in a timely manner, as well as continuing education as required by the company.
  • Successful completion of a company-approved pre-employment drug screen is required.

Responsibilities

  • Demonstrate assigned driving operations for students on a regular basis.
  • Oversee the safe operation and use of equipment when being used by students, ensuring company policy and standards are adhered to.
  • Supervise all assigned trainees and complete necessary documentation, such as student attendance forms and training records.
  • Provide in-person daily instruction to students in the following areas: Full Pre-Trip Inspection, Basic Control Skills, and Road Driving.
