About The Position

Alter Trading is looking for a Class-A CDL Driver to join its Clinton, IA facility. This is an onsite local driving position with the benefit of being home every night. The role is not exclusively a driving position; candidates must be open to cross-training in other areas such as operating equipment, front-end loader, forklift, dismantling vehicles, and assisting in the yard.

Requirements

Valid CDL - Class A
Previous Commercial Driving Experience
MVR able to pass our Safety requirements
Class A and/or Class B license
Defensive Driving
Clean driving record and practices

Responsibilities

Operates a truck picking up metal within specified area.
Waits to be loaded by either Alter or customer and drives loads to customer or Alter.
Secures the load based on the type of truck or box.
Follows company safety standards at all times, including PPE and attending monthly safety meetings.
Performs pre- and post-trip inspections to ensure the motor vehicle is in safe operating condition.
Communicates with dispatcher concerning delays, unsafe routes, accidents, and equipment breakdowns.
Operates equipment, works as a loader operator, forklift operator, dismantles vehicles and appliances, and helps in the yard as needed.
