About The Position

Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a CDL Driver Trainee in Juneau, AK. This program offers the opportunity to get paid $25.00 per hour while training to earn a Class B CDL with an air brakes endorsement. Upon completion of the training, which can take as little as 3 weeks or up to a few months, trainees will transition into a full-time Local Driver role at $27.00 per hour. This is an excellent opportunity for hard workers with a great attitude and a clean driving record to start a career in the waste management industry without prior CDL experience.

Requirements

• A valid Class D license and ability to obtain a CDL permit within 90 days of start date
• A clean driving record
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather conditions
• Strong communication + basic reading/writing skills (English required)
• 1+ year of general work experience (related experience is a plus)

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate a garbage truck safely on local routes
• Collect solid waste and recyclables from residential and commercial customers
• Follow route sheets and work independently
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance
• Provide friendly, professional service to customers
