About The Position

The Fayetteville Area System of Transit (FAST) is seeking CDL Driver Trainees to join their team. NO PRIOR COMMERCIAL DRIVING EXPERIENCE IS REQUIRED. FAST has partnered with Fayetteville Technical Community College (FTCC) to offer a training program for individuals who do not possess a commercial driver’s license. Trainees will be employed by the City during the training period and must complete and pass the class to continue employment. The training program at FTCC is a 5-week/200-hour program. The City (FAST) will cover the Trainee’s FTCC course Tuition/Fee and DOT Long Form Physical & Drug Screen. Upon completion of the FTCC training and obtaining a valid Class B driver’s license with passenger endorsement, candidates will advance to $18.90/hour and begin FAST’s internal training. The Trainee will be required to sign an agreement for a 24-month (2 years) employment commitment with the City (FAST). As a FAST Transit Operator, you must be attentive, have good judgment, be professional, have safe driving habits and most importantly have the ability to provide great customer service. The Transit department provides bus services 7 days a week.

Requirements

A current DOT Medical Card
North Carolina Class B Commercial Driver’s License with an endorsement for air brakes and a passenger endorsement within 60 days of FTCC Training completion
Ability to maintain insurability
Must be available to work during the following hours of operation: Monday – Saturday between the hours of 4:55 AM and 10:30 PM, Sunday between the hours of 8:30 AM and 7:30 PM
Must complete and pass the FTCC training program
Must sign an agreement for a 24-month (2 years) employment commitment with the City (FAST)
