About The Position

Drivers operate heavy-duty trucks equipped with front-, side-, or rear-end load-lift attachments, depending on the line of business and vehicle. They transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity. Roll-off Drivers prepare, load, and transport large mobile open-top and compactor containers from customer locations. They navigate driveways, alleyways, lots, high-traffic roadways, and potentially tight overhead environments on industrial routes. Skilled backing maneuvers are essential. The role is safety-sensitive and requires strict compliance with safety rules and protocols. The position is on-site, pays an expected base rate of $30, and has a stated shift of 4:00 AM to 4:00 PM. Drivers are described as home daily and at night and on weekends. Requirements

At least 1 year operating a vehicle requiring a CDL, or 1 year of equivalent military driving within the last 7 years.
At least 18 years of age and legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located.
Able to read, write, and speak English sufficiently to interact with the public, understand traffic signs, respond to official questions, and complete records or reports.
Successfully complete pre-employment screening, including a drug screen and physical.
Commercial Driver License (CDL) Class A with an air-brake endorsement, or CDL Class B with an air-brake endorsement.
Comply strictly with safety rules and protocols; the role may require drug and alcohol testing, including pre-employment, post-incident, reasonable-suspicion, and random testing.
Have or be willing to obtain a REAL ID or TSA-approved alternative if needed for business air travel or access to federal property.

Responsibilities

Operate the vehicle in accordance with WM Safety and Life Critical Rules, OSHA and DOT requirements, and applicable local, state, and federal laws.
Prepare, load, and transport large mobile open-top and compactor containers from customer locations.
Transport materials to disposal, transfer, or recycling facilities when trucks reach legal load capacity.
Perform pre-trip and post-trip vehicle inspections and document them using the standard Driver Vehicle Inspection Report (DVIR).
Immediately report unsafe situations or service-related issues to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
Attend and participate in required training programs, briefings, and meetings.
Work with the Operations Manager to improve route efficiencies and identify best practices.
Notify the Operations Manager of incidents, accidents, injuries, or property damage.
Notify the Operations Manager or Dispatch of service interruptions, closed or impassable streets or alleyways, receptacles too heavy to service, and potential safety hazards.
Communicate customer requests to the Operations Manager or Dispatch.
Completely empty receptacles and leave customer locations clean and free of debris.
Follow route assignments and complete end-of-day documentation and check-out.
Perform duties as scheduled by the Operations Manager or Dispatch and assist other drivers as directed to meet customer needs.
Operate vehicles and/or equipment in a safe and reliable manner.
