About The Position

Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is now hiring a CDL Driver Trainee or an Entry Level CDL Driver in Anchorage, AK. This is an opportunity to get paid between $19.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience, while you train to earn your CDL for free. The training process includes a weeklong classroom course, behind-the-wheel training, and a road test to earn a Class B CDL with an air brakes endorsement. Upon completion, you will transition into a full-time Local Driver role at $25.00 per hour. The entire process can be completed in as little as 3 weeks, or within a few months. For those who already possess a CDL, the starting pay is $25.00 per hour, with training provided on safely operating a garbage truck and running a route independently.

Requirements

• A valid Class D license and ability to obtain a CDL permit within 90 days of start date, or, A valid Class B or Class A CDL with Air Brake endorsement.
• A clean driving record
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather conditions
• Strong communication + basic reading/writing skills (English required)
• 1+ year of general work experience (related experience is a plus)

Nice To Haves

• High school diploma or GED preferred

Responsibilities

• Operate a garbage truck safely on local routes
• Collect solid waste and recyclables from residential and commercial customers
• Follow route sheets and work independently
• Perform daily vehicle inspections and basic maintenance
