About The Position

Alaska Waste, a Waste Connections company, is hiring a CDL Driver Trainee or an Entry Level CDL Driver in Anchorage, AK. This is an opportunity to get paid between $19.00 to $25.00 per hour, depending on experience, while you train to earn your Class B CDL with air brakes endorsement for free. The training process can be completed in as little as 3 weeks or up to a few months. The role starts with labor tasks like cleaning and building cans, then progresses to driving a delivery truck. Upon obtaining the CDL, trainees will be trained to drive a garbage truck and assigned a route. For those who already possess a CDL, the starting pay is $25.00 per hour, with training focused on safely operating a garbage truck and independent route management. Training involves operating a delivery truck for residential cart delivery/removal, using Smith System keys, and eventually driving a garbage truck on assigned routes.

Requirements

• A valid Class D license and ability to obtain a CDL permit within 90 days of start date, or, a valid Class B or Class A CDL with Air Brake endorsement.
• A clean driving record
• Physically able to lift 50+ lbs and work in all weather conditions
• Strong communication + basic reading/writing skills (English required)
• 1+ year of general work experience (related experience is a plus)

Responsibilities

• Operate a garbage truck safely on local routes
• Collect solid waste and recyclables from residential and commercial customers
