About The Position

At MasTec Communications Group, the Directional Drill Operator/Locator supports directional drilling to install underground conduit and fiber optic cable. The role involves operating and locating horizontal directional drilling equipment, helping install coax and fiber systems, and transporting heavy equipment to and from job sites. Requirements

• At least 2 years of utility directional drilling experience in an urban environment.
• Experience with different sizes of Vermeer or Ditch Witch drills.
• Ability to read and understand maps, drawings, and diagrams for the project build process.
• Valid Class A CDL with a clean driving record.
• A safety-minded approach and a track record of completing high-quality work.

Responsibilities

• Locate for a horizontal directional driller during installation of underground conduit and fiber optic cable.
• Operate a horizontal directional bore with the drill locator to install coax and fiber systems.
• Ensure the safety of the public and other underground utility facilities.
• Read utility locates and coordinate daylighting of facilities.
• Transport heavy equipment to and from the job site each day.
